Description
Tours pumpkin seeds. Dark green pumpkin with yellow, orange, and green stripes. It is a tall oval shaped pumpkin that is 10-18lbs. Kind of looks like an extremely large pickle. My kids kept calling them pickle pumpkins. Apparently the name is very fitting as well, because the French do pickle this pumpkin, as well as use it to make soups and use it as animal feed.
The seeds of this pumpkin are very large, they can be pressed and release a lot of oil. Which is supposed to be medicinal, I haven’t tried to press or make anything from the oils, but who knows, maybe I’ll give it a shot next fall.
My chickens love this pumpkin, they would attack them as soon as they were cut from the plant. It was very hard to get any pics of a finished pumpkin, the one in the picture was only sitting there for about 5 minutes, and they already had holes pecked into it.
Everything I grow is free of chemicals, my farm is not certified organic, but I only use natural fertilizers from my animals and never spray insecticide or herbicide on anything.
