This is a Marantz 1060 Stereo Amplifier I recently refurbished.  This unit has all new and high quality electrolytic capacitors.  The power transistors have been removed, tested, cleaned, and replaced with new Cho-Therm thermal pads.  These thermal pads are much more efficient and transferring heat to the heatsink, while not requiring paste like the original mica pads.  This helps reduce the amount of dust build up around the power transistors, ultimately helping to extend their life.

An emitter resistor was also replaced in this unit and the entire thing cleaned up a bit.  One owner prior to me refurbishing this amp and in excellent condition.  Unfortunately, it does not come with the wooden cabinet, but that just means we can sell it at a lower price.

To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Marantz stereos, but this unit impressed me.  The ground noise has been cleaned up so much, it’s almost completely inaudible with no input signal and the volume turned up (rare in most vintage amps).  The bass response is incredible for this line of amp.  The highs are clear and crisp, while the mids bring in an extra layer of fine tuning for your specific sound preference.  All functions work and all switches and potentiometers have been cleaned and lubricated to remove any dirt, dust, and oxidation on the contacts/wiper.  If you’re looking for a great quality stereo that sounds great and doesn’t break the bank, look no further.  Don’t let the 30W per channel scare you off, either.  30W is far more power than most people realize.  If you match these up with a solid set of speakers, I think you’ll be just as impressed as I have been.  To be honest, there’s a part of me that doesn’t want to part with it, but a stereo like this needs to find a home where someone will enjoy it and listen to it often.
